New Program in Social Work

About the Program

Ana G. Méndez University System is accredited by the Middle States Commission in Higher Education. The Bachelor of Arts in Social Work is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).

The Bachelor of Social Work offers the knowledge to become a Social Work Professional and learn all the concepts necessary for that profession, such as diversity, social and economic justice, human rights, social research, social policy and intervention with individuals, groups and communities, among others. By becoming a Social Worker you can develop yourself professionally in different areas and companies, such as: Hospitals, Government Agencies, Non-Profit Institutions, Hospices, Geriatric Institutions, Mental Health Centers, etc.

Admission Requirements

  • GPA of 2.25 or equivalent
  • Write an essay about their interest in the Social Work profession in the language of their preference (English or Spanish)
  • Take English and Spanish Placement Tests. Students that do not place at college level English or Spanish are required to enroll and pass developmental language courses in either or both languages prior to enrolling in Social Work major courses.
