The city of San Pedro Sula in Honduras is one of the most economically poor communities in the world, but it is its people and the human quality of more than 1 million inhabitants, who make it a city rich in values; Often coveted by progressive destinies. However, the reality of economic inequality causes consequences that affect this community of beautiful people; One of them is the lack of medical care and medicines.

This year, the Ana G. Méndez University System Nursing Program, in an effort to improve the quality of life of Latin American communities, joined EarthWeb Foundation in a medical / humanitarian mission to address the needs of The population San Pedro Sula.

The 4-day mission, comprised of health professionals, including medical doctors, nurses, students and volunteers, serviced nearly 200 patients of all ages every day at a local clinic run by Hope Worldwide; Which serves a community of approximately 115,000 inhabitants.

"This mission, the first for Florida campuses, has a medical and humanitarian approach that represents the essence of SUAGM since its inception. Our commitment to humanity addresses needs that go beyond the much needed medical care, and allows us to raise awareness about the needs that exist in Latin American brother countries; Above all, it gives us the opportunity to bring hope and solidarity to a people who need the help of those who have the human resources to make a difference in their lives, "said Dr. Luis Burgos, Rector of the Florida SUAGM Enclosures.

In conjunction with EarthWeb Foundation's medical professional staff, SUAGM's representation was comprised of prominent students from the South Florida Campus, including Evidio Jorge Reyes, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing student and Mr. Wladimir Thielen, a student of Master of Science in Nursing with specialization in Advanced Family Practice; Both under the supervision of Mr. Gustavo Enrique Durand-Hernandez, Associate Director of Nursing and Allied Health Programs.
